I downloaded the zip of the top game on diety level and took a look at it. I am wondering how (without cheating) one gets a city to size 60. After all, the best food terrain setup possible is
4 Wheat (or oasis) farmed for 6 ea (24)
17 Grassland farmed for 4 ea. (68)
for a total of 92 food (or 46 population)
Am I missing something? (other than caravan food (1))

by sending food caravans you can take cities over size 100 if you want.I think the max is 127.2 caravans per turn or 1 with granary.

after that the numbers 'roll over' because of how many bits are used in the number.

And the women once proud Clutched the heart of the crowd
As the boulders smashed down from the mountain's hand
And the Magic in the stare Of the Wild Eyed Boy said
"Stop, Freecloud They won't think to cut me down"

It will not contribute to your war effort to increase your city size beyound 20+16=36. The numbers come from:

20 = Max number of citizens that can all be at work on terrain, with no excess (eg, entertainers, taxmen, scientists).

16 = Max number of Scientists + Taxmen

All citizens in excess of 36 will be entertainers.

46 is max number of citizens a optimumally configured city can support without food caravans or the food caravan 'trick' (a cheat whose origin is a game bug).

Generally, in the last third of the game or so, entertainers are a great flag that a city needs your attention (use Attitude Advisor to spot them)... maybe a colisieum, maybe they should be changed to taxmen or scientists or engineers. If you have entertainers you can't use in any other way (eg, you already have 16 scientists/taxmen), pop them off as an Engineer!

Also your 17th specialist will have no specialist effect. Even though he might be an Elvis, he will not make anyone happy. You cannot make your 17th specialist a taxman or scientist, so that part is easy, but don't think that Elvis at the end is going to help with anything except 1 pt in the game score.

Have you really tried levels more than King? It is impossible, your people get unhppy when your cities are up to 2 population, I mean come one. If you change the rules.txt it is possible but I don't think that it is in reality, using the default options that are in the game, agree???

I think you'll find most or at least many players here are experienced deity players. Its not hard so much as just re-arranging the order in which you do things on lower levels.

On the lower levels I just build settlers for the first part of the game. Can't do that at deity.Gotta get the people content.Plus you get "extra" unhappy citizens after a certain amount of cities.

Its the same on deity for high scores as any other level.
1.Pound the ai down to 1 city.

2.have your way
